Poon hill Trek 3210m

Poon hill short trek is a rewarding trek which can be easily done by everyone.Ghorepani, Poon Hill (3210m/10,531ft) trekking is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region with sunrise, panoramic views of the Himalayas, the unique and spectacular Annapurna range, a midst the majestic peaks of Annapurna (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Machapuchhre 4170m and Hiunchuli (6441 m). The trail goes alongside terraced rice paddies, millet and other grain fields. The huge rhododendron forests are in bloom, which gives the Annapurna trekking an extra appeal; high-altitude landscapes with the Annapurna Range and Fishtail in view most of the time. 

Eight Days Poon Hill Luxury Treks begins after a day of sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.  It starts with a flight or bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara and a 1 hour 30m drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. Formally we start our trek from Nayapul, north up to Ghorepani to reach the famous viewpoint of Poon Hill (3210m/10,531ft). From Gorepani we go eastward to Chomrong and then north again, entering the Modi Khola (true river coming from ice) Valley which leads up to the Base Camp. ). There are few treks that combine many different landscapes and yet bring you so close to the base of 8 000-meter-high peaks in a short period of time. 

Lodge and Tea house During the Trek

The lodges and teahouses in the Annapurna Trekking Region are well equipped with extensive menus ranging from the typical Nepali dahl bhat (rice with lentils) and Western foods like pizza and burgers. The entire menu will be open to you. The local products are mostly organic. Most of the teahouses are along the way.

    Today after breakfast we start a cultural tour some of the most historical and architectural attractions of world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley which are listed by UNESCO. We visit The famous Temple in the town 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath), historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath),which is the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and Hindu divine temple of Pashupatinath. In the evening introduced to fellow participants, and briefly discuss our trip.

    Today we are formally starting our trip from Kathmandu early morning having breakfast in our hotel before this need to be ready position to finish all backpack. We pick at the hotel around at 6:30am and heading to the bus station. The bus Kathmandu to Pokhara leaves at around 7:00am. The buss normally stops two times on the way for lunch, snack breaks. We have beautiful river valley with the rice, millet, crops tarries which give us refresh all the time in this long drive. Finally in the afternoon we reach a beautiful valley set on the banks of the Phewa Lake, Pokhara is also known for its panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fish tail) in the north, and Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller, clean, natural and much less crowded than Kathmandu, hence providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Note: If we take by fly it takes only 30 min. flight with fantastic view on the aircraft. After reaching the Pokhara we check in our hotel have rest about an hour and short hike over the Phewa Lake. Overnight have good rest and sleep in Pokhara.

    Wake up around at 6.30 am in the morning, having back pack and ready position. We take our breakfast at hotel around 7.30 am. Today we began our real trek at Nayapul after a one and half hour drive from Pokhara. We will good luck for all of us! To manage all our back, trekking poles we start to walk here along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1,015 m) a large village with many shops and teahouses.From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. Today’s most of trails flat and easy walk. There is very nice and traditional village both side of the valley the trails continuous with the some steppe uphill then we reach Hille village and after a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at (1,570 m). Overnight we have good rest and sleep in the teahouse.

    Today is long and might be difficult trails because almost all the way steeply uphill. We take our breakfast and slowly start around 7 am. We crossed two suspension bridge one after another then the trails become steeply uphill continuous to Ulleri, a large Magar village at an altitude of 2,070 m. from here we have incredible view of Mt. Annapaurna south (7219m). After crossed Ulleri village we have continuous trail about an hour then we reach Banthati, we might be stop short time here for some drink and rest with the fantastic view of the mountain and forest. We continuous our way up to the north direction after here most of the trails become fewer steppes with shadow whish give us some relief after long steep uphill. We enter rhododendron forest in the spring season it is absolutely amazing seen with flowers. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2,460 m. After an hour walk, we reach at popular place Ghorepani (2,840 m). Overnight we have good rest and sleep at Ghorepani.

    Today, very early in the morning( around 4.30 am) we start our an hour hiking with the help of our head lamp to Poon Hill at the point of 3,210m, it is very steep uphill which rewarded a real breathtaking view of the Himalayas. POON HILL is the best view point to see overall Annapurna range, Dhulagiri, Tukche, Lamjung himal, Fishtail and many more. Sunrise over the mountain gives the miracle beauty. We spent this fantastic view point about half an hour and capturing some this incredible beauty and heading back to the teahouse. We take hot breakfast before starting our trek. We are start to heading uphill almost same height in Poon Hill to the north east direction. This part of the trails is really beautiful with the combination of pine and rhododendron forest with White Mountain. We reach at the high point at the hill and start to heading down we arrive to Deurali, we spent some rest here. They have some tea house with the souvenir shop, organized by Tibetan refugee’s people. We further descend Banthati, some of the part are steeply downhill we will be care full it might be slippery due to muddy or some time ice in the way. The trails start again steeply downhill along the deep Rhododendron forest to the river from here again needs to climb up to reach Tadapani. After the long day we are in Tadapani it is unique place just cover by the big forest. Overnight we have good rest and sleep at Tadapani.

    Mt. Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Fishtail are just close to us, we can realize really beauty of those mountain perfectly after wake up in the morning. The day starts with a gradually downhill through Rhododendron forests. After the short walk we reach one of the popular mountain villages in Nepal Ghandruk. In this beautiful village most of the people are Gurung cast and ethnicity. All the traditional houses are really amazingly well made. We have lunch and make a rest. In the afternoon we explore this nice village. Stay overnight at Ghandruk.

    Today is the final part of the trek, which is easy downhill about a couple of hours after this it becomes wide and flat way. Along the trails we have several traditional villages. In the way we have to see so many different birds. Our car is waiting for us in Nayapull after a one and half hours’ drive we arrive in Pokhara.
